Anh. I'm purist. I don't like to use photoshop. I have it, but so many people in my generation think they are great photographers because they can take a picture of a flower and then edit it beyond belief until it is a manipulated mess of a photograph. Then someone says, "Wow! That's cool!" and they think they're an amazing photographer and they continue to taint the world that is Photograghy.
I'm kind of bitter haha.I avoid Photoshop for everything except cropping, monochrome conversions, and lighting corrections. Sorry, I needed to get that off my chest. |

I hear where you're coming from laura but sometimes a little extra contrast and less exposure in the highlights can make a good picture better. Even though he never had a copy of Photoshop, Ansel Adams did extensive manipulation of his negatives and prints to achieve the results you see today. I do agree that over Photoshopping an image is terrible but a little help isn't too bad.
I would like to see more of the swing - it looks like it's pretty interesting |

Years before the advent of the computer and Photoshop, film photographers were busy manipulating their photos in the dark room. Most famous photogs use one form of manipulation or another.
A camera is limited in it's ability to capture exactly what we see with the human eye...and quite honestly also limited in capturing what we see with the human soul. Sometimes a little manipulation is all that is needed to make a natural photo go that extra step. While I agree many photographs are very "overdone", it is not for me to say it is not art. I may not like it but someone else will think it's the best thing ever. To that viewer, the artist has done his/her job. The same viewer will look at a "natural" photo and say, "big deal, I see that all the time. What's so special about that?"
