Default I'm just starting this, any pointers?

I know they aren't all that great,
but I just want to know what I'm doing wrong and right.

First 2 seem to be bad-focused.
The 2rd one is under-exposed (too dark).
and the last one seems better than the other, but still not well adjusted focus.

Can you put the name of ur camera and the other setting u've used?

number 3 and 4 are good compositions, 2 is under exposed and 1 is OOF big time, plus the angle is odd (too extreme to be arty in my opinion)

My suggestion to you for beginning landscaping, is to use Aperture-Priority mode, and either set the aperture to f/11 or to the smallest aperture number you have on the lens. F/11 will produce a large Depth of field, so most of the photo will be in focus (as long as you focus properly) whereas a small f number will mean a small depth of field - which means only the object you focus on will be in focus plus a bit more, depending on how small the f number is.

Play around with those two, then try some apertures in between to get a feel for when/how to use certain apertures to get certain effects
