Default Cincy Skyline

Sorry about the post yesterday, I like a newbie hadn't read the rules.

in any event, here is the picture:
Cincinnati_skyline_9-3-09 021

Camera: Nikon D60
Exposure: 6
Aperture: f/4.8
Focal Length: 95 mm
Focal Length: 95.1 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: No Flash

What I am really interested in, is trying to get the backlight down and keeping as long of an exposure as possible. as you can see the car lights hitting the bridge the set on flickr has a few more tries at this... I realize lower iso and higher exposure, but any suggestions as to where?

I would recommend a Smaller Aperture, that will allow you to have a longer exposure.
Do you understand the exposure triangle? I would read this, it should help you out.

I agree that you need to get a smaller aperture, try F22, it will limit the amount of light entering the camera, alowing longer exposure to get the light streaks but not making your shot look like a overexposed day shot as it is now. Try to get the picture straight will help out too.

My guess is that you are trying to capture motion with the trail of lights. I think it would been better if the shot was made at a later time where it's darker at night.

That's a f4.8 at 6 seconds, it's plenty dark for what he's trying to do, he just needs to stop down a bit.

I think you are closer to getting your light trails than you are with your white and color balance. The colors are way off in this shot,as well as the sky being blown out, I tried the best I could to adjust your colors as well as cropped out some of the non detailed sky.
