The weather did not cooperate this morning for a good shot at the sunrise as it was overcast and way to cloudy to get any good light. There is a saying down here in Florida "If you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes".

Enjoy

The photo is very pleasant, but I feel like my eye is being lead out of the frame by the breakwater. I also feel like the most interesting things to see are on the left -- the beach, the trees, the buildings. The big empty space in the middle and top right is just sort of... empty. So, I wolud love to see a better-defined subject which keeps my attention.

Technical question: is there any particular reason you were shooting at f/4? With lots of light (1/500 shutter speed is very fast), you could easily have gone up to f/8 or f/10 with no problem, and probably helped your depth of field a bit. Not that I notice any particular softness, but it's something to think about.

Thanks for the observations in regards to content and feel.

As for the high shutter, the wind was blowing north of 25 mph so it was difficult to maintain a steady footing up on the roof.

I don't think the aperture is a big problem from a DoF perspective as the closest object is so far from the camera. However f/8 may have extracted the maximum sharpness from your lens.

My bigest issue with the photo is that the tall building is so close to the edge of the frame. Its a nice photo and I've seen much worse sell but, it probaly stands better as a document of the particular location than a spectacular landscape shot that stands on its own.

What is it that you are wanting help with? Or would you like to have this moved to the Share Your Shots Section?

The picture makes me want to just keep the beach with the tall buildings & use the shape as a captial 'L' in a poster.
