Default Is This Image Too Dark?

I'm very interested in opinions from everyone as to whether or not this image is too dark?

Nova Scotia Dreamin' 2Camera: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi
Exposure: 0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture: f/3.5
Focal Length: 18 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
Flash: Off, Did not fire

Too me it's too dark, only because of the time of day taken. Making the contrast between the sky and the shadows to high. I would like to see this same shot sometime before sunrise or just after sunset and maybe up to a f/14 or f/16. I would like to see an angle without the sky in it...........just forest and stream. But that might be difficult to achieve. Maybe a bracketed shot to help the sky on one hand and the forest/stream on the other hand.

It's a good start though.

The left side is dark, the right side and top is fine
