Step into the Door

I took this shot on a vaction to Korea. I have two questions. I did lose too much detail in the upper part of the door in the shadow. Next, is the bottom too washed out? Thanks

Great photo and I agree with your own critique. I am not crazy about the angle. I am sure you could recover most of the details with some tone mapping.
