Default Buildings

Hi

This is my first post here just got my first real camera as well.

I took this picture while walking around the neighborhood.

Do you guys think it's boring? Could I improve the colors? I really like minimal photography with clean lines. Is the composition allright?

So many questions but I'm new to this sorry

My specs are:

Camera: Sony DSLR-A350

Exposure: 1/320

Aperture: F/4.5

ISO: 200

hmmm, seems to have a lot of black text in it with a greyish blue background. Sorry, just kidding. You might want to post your image so we can see it!

Welcome to DPS...........Although your image is unique as far as approach, I really enjoyed it. It is refreshing to see new concepts and approaches in photography. Therefore, because this is a unique approach, at least in my experience, I cannot really critique it. I did however try to think of ways of expanding upon this approach. The only obvious one I could come up with was to crop the image so that the implied line went directly from upper left to lower right corners. Let me know what you think.

Jim

My suggestion was put into application by Jim. A simple crop makes for a more dramatic effect and a much more balanced shot. I like your take on photography though, way to think outside of the box.

Hey, I'm not sure, I think I prefer the original crop? I think leaving the final edge of the last building with the space next to it gives the impression that there is nothing to the right of the image? Somehow it makes the buildings seem solitary? (Does that make any sense?) I think denjas crop closes the image right up and makes you think the the buildings could continue for ever.

Either way, I love the shot! Look forward to seeing more...

Cheers

Hi there bluelight and "Welcome" to the site, I hope you get what you need out of this cracking site. As for your image, I like its clean simplicity and composition. Nice and sharp and although a little dark it's a nice first image to place on here, I would love to see the same image at say Sunset with the sun shining of the buildings just to give it a little more color. All in all a nice job, well done and thanks for sharing.
David.
