Nicely done for your first attempt. Shooting into the sun can be tricky to expose, particulalry when you don't want to silhouette the foreground.

I like the little reflection of the sun in the water however my eye is constantly wandering the the little spot of lens flare just near the 1/3 point on the right. I suggest you try and clone it out.

Anyhow...tis good!

Edit: maybe one other thing...less sky...more beach. Just my opinion

This is pretty good. A few pointers:

If you have a tripod, shoot later, right after the sun sets will garner the best results and less flare.

I like how you chose your subjects (trees) and the angle towards the sea. Next time you go you could choose just one subject like the lonely tree on the left of the rest of the trees on the right.

Composition is pretty good. I like the reflection of the little puddle of water to the right and the trees get some interest. However for this moment, I wouldve placed the horizontal line higher in the frame since not much is going on in the sky. I would keep the horizontal line in this place if there were more impressive clouds in the sky.

I mentioned alot and can mention more, just because I see alot of potential in you, hahahaha. I wished I had interesting beaches like that in Holland!

After reading your title "alone against the world" I think you have to leave the rest of the trees in this image. A lot can be said about a good title and my opinion is everything works in this image. There is a lot of things going on in the right side of the picture or the world side and not much in the left or the alone side.

Or maybe I'm just reading too much into everything hahaha

Although I realize the subject is the tree on the left, I think the most interesting shapes are provided by the "curvier" trees on the right. I say leave as is. And I'm personally I lens flare fan, so I like it there--personal preference I guess. I just love the photo!
