I took this pic with my E-3 around midnight near Lake Superior. Used the bulb setting and my "SureFire" flashlite to capture the waterfall. Took 4 tries to actually see anything. I'm not sure what to think of the picture so I wanted to hear good/bad about what you all think.

Wow, that's a sweet idea! Now you're making me want to go try that. Maybe tonight...
Anyhow, suggestions to refine this: 1. It looks like your focus was on the trees, or maybe rocks -- tough to get right at right, I know, but it's important! A good trick is to use the flashlight to hilight something you want to focus on, use autofocus, then turn your lens back to manual focus so that it stays there. 2. You've hilighted the trees as well as the waterfall, so it looks less like night and more just like odd lighting. Perhaps you could be more precise with the light painting, to really hilight JUST the waterfall. Remember, with long, dark exposures, you can walk in front of the lens and you will NOT show up if you're out of the light. Great idea -- keep it up!
