Default Town Hall Clock Tower

Hi,

I would like any critique and opinions on this image. I have always thought it was pretty good, but when i have shown it to friends most just say 'meh.' Maybe I am seeing something in it that isn't there?

I suppose the main questions is: do you think there is enough here for the shot to be interesting? would you look at it twice?

Any other thoughts appreciated as well. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to DPS,

I think you have something here with this shot. I think the exposure is nice and the angle too. You had a great sky as background. I like the sepia tones to the shot, it gives it a old picture style.

Kinda has a "Hitchcock" feel to it. I really like the tone of it.

Heh! I bet your friends were expecting some colorful snapshot. Not some picture that actually made them take a good look!

I like the "old" look of it. And there's something just a touch eerie about it as well. It's a striking image!

The blurry object in the left hand corner is a bit distracting and takes away from the image. You might try cropping that out. If that is the only crop you do, however; the tower becomes too centered so I might trim a little off the right as well. When I just hed my hands up for the poor mans crop tool this seemed to make the leading lines of the clock tower even more dramatic.

I really like the concept though. The lines leading up into that dramatic sky looks great.

I certainly think it's worth more than a second look... It's a pretty nice picture.

There's something a little "off" about where on the building you framed. Less or more might have been better.....It might also benefit from leveling....

I think the HDR or Shadow/Highlights adjustments might have been just a bit much....you're getting halo's on the building.
You could duplicate the layer and make adjustments to the sky on one, and the building on the other and then mask out the top layer where you want the building to show....eliminates the halo..

I agree with the others but if it were mine Id be going a high contrast mono...with a bit of punch for that sky. Might just be that little bit more dramatic.
