First the shot.
![]() So the small green spot and the big flare area are what I would like to avoid, how? I shot this with my 18-55 kit lense, with a uv filter attached. I have a circular polarizer that I never even thought of for this shot, would it have helped? I'm not at home right now so I don't have the EXIF data with me, but I was thinking it was a technique issue and not a camera settings issue. However, if this proves incorrect I will post up the full data later today when I'm at home. thanks |

First to avoid flare, try to avoid shooting directly into the sun but if you absolutely need to do so remove the UV filter that can cause some unwanted flare. If the source of the flare was on the side, use a lens hood to protect you from it. the Polariser would have helped out to make the colors pop a bit more but i am not shure about the flare, never tryed it.

Thanks barabe, I will keep those points in mind. I never thought of removing the filter. this lense doesn't have a hood, but I'm usually wearing a baseball cap that I can hand hold to shade the lense from side sun. I didn't do that here because I'm shooting right at the sun.
thanks again. |

Barabe, i disagree on your suggestion of using polarizer. I believe polarizing filter has zero effect when you are shooting into the sun.
