This is one of a series where I explored some details of a barb wire gate. I feel this is the best of the lot. but feel free to take a look at the rest and contradict me.

Particular questions are cropping and depth of field. Should I have lost the detail in the background? Does the knot get lost in the horizon and does this matter? Would a tighter crop worked better (This is the broadest crop but it seems to capture the scene best). I do like some of the other images where the image is cropped tighter on the knot but I feel I struggled with Depth of field even more in these images. I think the idea of softening of focus beyond F18 made me to leery.

From a bloke who is BRAND new to this game....

I reckon the mountains in the very background should be brighter, made more of a caontast to the post & yes the knot is lost. Simply dropping the camera down a few inches would have fixed it I reckon.

Oh der Dave, I forgot to say....

That is a cracker of a picture despite the knot being lost. The colours & contrasts are bloody good. Great job mate.
