Hiking by an old bunker a few years ago on film (scanned it today), I saw the hole in the wall and took a shot of the cityscape that I saw through it:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/briscophoto/3786334267/ So, what I'm looking for feedback is: 1. how is the composition? 2. how is the crop? 3. should I have zoomed? 4, and what would you have done differently? Thanks! Looking forward to some comments and suggestions! |

I can't say that I would have done anything differently. And if I did do anything differently, I would have regretted it after seeing your version.
I really like it. I don't think I'd change it at all.

If you didn't explain what it was I would have thought you PP some crazy vignette as there isn't a known point of reference for the viewer. [Like there would be for a silhouetted window or door frame]. This would be a nice shot to try some HDR... melding two exposures so there is some detail in the foreground wall so the viewer could understand what they were looking at without explaination.

I'm willing to bet that you'll get more feedback if you actually post the image here instead of a link. Could you also post your exif information? Please and thank you

I think as long as you approprietly title the image there doesn't need to be any further explanation or editing. "Through bunker wall" or something like that.

Cool idea. My only complaint -- and I reserve this kind of complaint for images I already like -- is this: I think that you could have made it a little bit more interesting if you had been a bit closer to the hole, so that it filled a little bit more of the frame. There is just a little bit too much blackness around the outside edges. Another solution would be a slightly closer crop. Don't go TOO close -- just a little bit less of the darkness. I love the clarity of the city, and as mentioned above an appropriate title will make the purpose clear. Well done!
