For this shot yes. If it had some clouds or something you may be able to get away with it. The wide expanse of blue is a nice colour and it may suit a more abstract shot or a shot with a very stong subject, however with the bottom of the shot also being very empty and devoid of anything to grab the eye the whole shot looks a little dull and empty.

Maybe frame lower and use the path of the road to draw the eye into the buildings, also try to search out something a bit more distintive to create a subject for the photo.

Or just enjoy the sunny day!

I would say yes. Here's how you can tell:

Ask yourself: what is the subject of this photo? To me, it looks like it's the old town (cool subject, btw). If that's the subject, then ask yourself what the other parts of the photo do with respect to this subject. So, what does all that open sky do? In my mind, it just pushes the buildings down towards the bottom of the photo, where they feel like they're trying to escape from the frame.

I think that you could us the sky to good effect here, to get a feeling of "big sky" or "vast open spaces" -- but to do so, you might (for example) try getting down lower, emphasize the buildings more, and let the sky show through behind and above them -- but just a little bit.

You've got a cool subject, you just need to recognize what that subject actually is.

What's the story you're trying to tell? While you're thinking about that one, don't forget to look for other details - for example, did you really want those two people at the bottom left or would it have been best to wait for them to move out of frame?

yeah, to much sky. The blue sky is really nice and i am feeling jealous with you now because its hard for me to get that kind of vlue sky in Malaysia. But if theres cloud covering little bit the sky area, it will be nice. for this situation, I think it would be better to shot in landcape rather than portrait. anyway, its a nice picture

How much land or sky you show depends on what feel you hope to portray-2/3 sky;1/3 land - etherial(dreamy) feel - 1/3 sky;2/3 land - earthy feel. regards, Ken
