Do you think the foreground is too dark?

I think it's alright, I wouldnt like it to be bright and take the thunder out of the beautiful sight you caught out there.

Personally I can see where your concern is coming from , but was more interested to see what your solution would be if everyone said yes (fill light , HDR , single image tonemap ??) . I dont think its too dark , it is darkish but it certainly doesnt detract from your image , and while I'm here I'll just say what a great peice of landscape you have caught . The South Island has so much to offer and I really like this .

I think you've done a great job stuali62 and I wouldn't worry to much about the dark foreground either. I like this a lot, well done!

PS. There's a tiny spot in the upper right corner, easy to fix in photoshop.

Stuali62, First of all, please do not forget to include your EXIF info in your post, Secondly, IMO is a good shot, since the water is acting as mirror bringing up light to foreground, I would not do any change, only the tiny spot mentioned by simona.boglea
Thanks Art

Nice capture.........looks like a scenic from something out of the "Lord of the Rings".

I have to agree with everyone else - I definately do not think it is too dark. I feel if it was lightened it wouldn't make for such a nice photo.

I also have to agree with Jim Bryant, it certainly does look like a scenic shot from the Lord of the Rings, and since the LOTR movies were shot here in great ol' NZ, it could very well possibly be...
