Default Stranded by the sea side

This photo was taken in Northern Queensland.
I think it works but maybe it could be cropped a bit more. The blues are fantastic up there maybe just too much at times. Any comments would be helpful before we go up there later this year.

Thanks

Wow -- intense colors. And what a crazy set of roots that is! I really like it. I'm not sure about cropping -- I kind of like the space on the right, although it is mostly empty. Perhaps composing to leave space on the left (towards the water) might work better -- as if the roots were looking out to sea. That's just a random idea though.

As far as the colors -- I think the whole image has a bit of a warm tone, and the saturation is very high. However, I'm willing to say that that's an artistic choice for you -- I kind of like the colors where they are. I'm sure that others will say that the image is too warm and should be toned down. You should give that a try, but you may ultimately decide that this version is better.

Its one of those "It should work but it doesn't quite" type of shots. You have followed all of the rules such as thirds and foreground interest but it seems something is lacking.

Unforunately that is about as usefull a critique as you will get from me as I don't know what is lacking!

On the PP side it does look at bit over staturated and over sharpended.

Nice shot.
I think the missing link has to do with the vantage point. Appears it was shot at eye level.
Get down low and capture some of the water or shore in the foreground and let it lead the eyes up to the roots. The eyes will eventually lead up to the right as it follows the roots and will then be lead out of the frame by the mountains in the background thus creating a nice flow all the way thru the scene.

First I love the shot but I do see that something is missing. Nearly every branch draws the eyed up and to the right of the shot into... Nothing. I was in the middle of writing something then it hit me. Did you shoot this about mid-day? If so then my recommendation would be to go back, if possible and shoot it in the first or last hours of the day. That contrast would be a very nice counterpoint to the photo. Also, plop yourself down in that water like Tvoelcker hinted for that stand out moment.

Remember that's just my 2 cents and that's about all I'm willing to pay someone for listening to my advice .
