I am just starting out and I am looking for input on the photo below. I was out at sunset and noticed the long shadows and bright leaves. To me, the photo is busy and maybe a bit flat, but otherwise a different perspective. Thanks for your feedback.

First, welcome to the forums!
I agree that the photo is busy -- the trees really confuse things. It looks like what you were focusing on were the shadows, but only some of the lower part of the photo actually involves any shadows. One way you might be able to improve this is by finding a different viewpoint which emphasizes the shadows more. For example, get down lower and look at one or two objects -- such as the chairs and fire pit. Compose to get more shadows in. Good luck!

I think I would have moved about five or six sidesteps right and either sat or laid down on the ground to shoot right between the two chairs with that firepit focused in the center. Now, whether I'm right or not is entirely another matter. I also might have cheated and hidden my flash remotely behind one of the deer and had it shoot directly along one of the light trails to really pick up the design from the pit in shadow.
