I'm new to photography and am learning a lot from this site and getting a lot of inspiration from the photography posted around here.
I took this shot over the weekend at a brush fire in New Jersey. Does it read as though it's in front of a burning field? Did i push the levels too far in post? Any input or tips are deeply appreciated. I went to art school and am good at taking constructive crits, so have at it. j EXIF Camera: Nikon D60 Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/1600) Aperture: f/5.0 Focal Length: 220 mm ISO Speed: 200 Flash: No Flash Last edited by rahuu; 04-07-2009 at 08:53 PM. To me if it were not for the description and title, i would not have known that there was a fire anywhere or taht there was smoke. I think the idea is great and i liked the DOF. The smoke and sky does a nice back ground.

I agree that I like the idea, but I really can't tell what the background is if you hadn't told us. As far as the composition, I think you could make it stronger by filling the frame more with your subject. With this type of subject, you should be able to do that and still see plenty of background.
