I am kind of new too, but I really like it for whatever that's worth.

I love the near abstract reflection in the foreground.
This and the log seems to be your main subjects and they are good ones.
However I'm not too sure about the snow covered landscape in the background. Perhaps if you just showed a glimpse of this area it might work better. I actually just scolled the picture up thus cropping some of the top off the frame and it seemed a bit more pleasent to my eyes. However, opinions will vary on the subject of the background so we shall see what everybody else has to say.

For me the shot does not realy do it, i like the reflection but it would have been beter if the water was calmer to see details. Maybe a closer crop of the branch with the reflections would have caught my eye more without the background.

I can see what you are both talking about and I agree completely.

Please understand TheCheesWizz that we are in no means trying to discourage you ,but rather trying to help. Trust me, I know how discouraging and frustrating photography can be especially when it comes to composition.
Don't let this take the fun out doing something you love.
The more critiques you read and apply what you agree with ,plus shooting lots of pictures with the intent of making every picture a masterpiece, the easier things will get.

Just to give you an idea. Sadly the log is not sharp, but here I have used a tighter crop, blurred the background and highlighted the log a little.

Not saying this is right, but an opinion

I like that a lot. I'm not saying I would have done that good of a job to it, but my computer is not working at the moment and the computer I'm using doesn't have photoshop. So for the next little while everything I post will be strait from the camera.

I really like it, I like the colours, the composition, the reflection and the snowy bank. I enjoyed looking at it, thanks.

I see: a log, reflections, and a bank with trees. The log and reflections are by far the most interesting part. Angling's idea is good: crop away that distant bank with trees, and the log and reflections will pop out much more.

Also, the wavy reflections are very nice -- it might be nice with still water, but I like the waves as they are.
