I know a lot of times there's nothing you can do about this but I think a higher vantage point would improve the picture - the sky is really interesting but you only see a bit of it, the rest gets lost behind the pier. If you got a higher vantage point and could see the horizon behind the pier and the stormy sky the whole way across the photo and maybe crop out a bit of the less-active sky up top I think you'd have a really great photo. Looks like a great place to take pictures!

Wow you have quite a collection of lenses. You even show to have a couple of L-lenses !!
Anyways, I love the cloud formation but unfortunatly from the vantage point most of it is not visible. The foreground isn't extremely interesting however I do like the way you caught the crashing of the water against the pier. I agree this appears to be a good place for a capture but the composition needs a bit of tweeking.

I agree with Tvoelcker and ericw, about view point and composition.
Plus the whole shot seems to me a litle wasshed out. On the other hand i like the way the waves crashing were caught, maybe a tighter crop on that section of the pier with the dramatic sky and a boost in contrast could help.

Thanks for the great comments and suggestions. I need to learn a whole lot about a number of things and I think this is the best way to do it. Take the photos and ask for critiques. So thanks again to all who helped. /Craig
