Default Snowy day in Sarajevo

Empty walls

This is my first upload here. I took this pic one year ago just when it began snowing. I pretty much like this picture but I'd be great if I could get some tips to improve my technique. I'm interested in photojournalism, most of all.

Thank you all!

Camera: Canon EOS 400D Digital
Exposure: 0.004 sec (1/250)
Aperture: f/2.8
Focal Length: 22 mm

Thumbs up

I think this shot is grat and for the photojournalism part of it, it tells a story.
We do not need to know it`s Sarayevo to realise it is a city with a big War history with the debries on the flor and bullet holes on the wall. The BW conversion also makes the shot, it guives a sense of sadness to the shot.

Great shot.

I think this is an excellent capture and you convey very well the story. The only thing is by going with B&W the man kind of blends into the wall which makes me want to see the color version if it's available. Overall great job!

Excellent image. The B&W conversion has some real grain to it, which suits the subject matter. Excellent contrasts going on in here.

I think it's clever the way the graininess, the concrete, the bullet holes and the falling snow all compliment each other and work so well together. I like the way the man with the umbrella almost blends into his background so we don't notice him at first. I first notice the textures and gloom, then the high contrast rubble with snow on and only then the man. It makes me think about how we see and perceive things. The aftermath of war is still there, cluttering up the streets, reminders everywhere, it is still what a lot of us think of when we think of Sarajevo, although of course not the only thing, but it will always be there now as part of our perception of the world. But of course real people still move through this landscape, coping with the problems, living their lives among the remnants of war, getting on with things in the background. I'm sure there is more to life in Sarajevo than that, but you have captured a very thought provoking aspect of life there.

Annette, I find your vision on the issue really interesting, I'm glad my picture made you think such things. Yes, there's more life in Sarajevo but walking through its' streets brings these thoughts to mind.
