Arrow [street shot] Yarm at night

Hi guys, this is my first post in the Critique forum. I've just started getting into photography after receiving a Canon G9 as a Christmas pressie. I'm really fascinated by night photography so started to try and take some decent shots myself. What do you think of the shot below? – How could I have taken it better? I know I haven’t got the best kit in the world but I know the G9 is capable of some good shots after surfing through Flickr. Thanks for reading

Yarm (behind Hide bar)

Camera: Canon PowerShot G9
Exposure: 1 sec (1)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 7.4 mm
ISO Speed: 200
Exposure Bias: 0/3 EV

It's not a bad shot. The window on the left is distracting because the color of the light is different. The black area in the foreground could be cropped off.

Next time try getting closer to the door or maybe shoot the door in portrait orientation.

You might also try shooting at ISO 100 or lower (if possible) and then use a smaller aperture (high f/number) and a appropriate shutter speed.

I agree with Samanax, and I would also suggest you correct the angle which is a bit off.
