I feel like this picture is very "boring", which is a shame because the actual view was incredible!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a way I could have shot it that would have been more visually appealing? As it stands I feel like there is nothing special about it and I wish I could have captured it in a way that drew people's eyes in. Thanks for your help!

I personally don't think the image is boring. There is a lot of stuff going on in the image but I think it works here since all the buildings are a simliar color with the same color roof which is a good use of repeating patterns. Perhaps taking the same image at a diffrent time of day could make it pop more like 30 min after sunset or a sunrise or sunset.

Hmm. I think the problem is that the buildings just appear to be milling about at random before they go off to do something.
Seriously, the image is so chaotic, as there are no clearly defined streets/lines to draw the eye. I don't have any idea how to address that, as I'm sure the actual view was breathtaking. The jumble of the city tends to overwhelm my eye until I reach the horizon (which is a great horizon btw--fantastic color in the mountains and sky).Sorry I can't offer any useful suggestions.

I'm glad to have seen it. It's a great shot of a large historic city.

Thanks very much for the comments!
murtasma: Thanks so much for the compliment! I am so happy you enjoyed the image, even if I think it is somewhat lacking. =) jblaschke: Yes, I see what you mean now about there being nothing to catch the interest of the eye until you hit the horizon. I appreciate your feedback! Saralonde: You are right, I should have tried to get someone or something in the foreground to make it more interesting. Thanks so much for the suggestion!! We were actually shooting from the top of the Acropolis near the Parthenon. It was such a beautiful city and I felt so fortunate to be there for a few days to take some pictures. Now if only my eye for photography was better! lol! =) Hockey Fan: Thanks for the comment, it was a gorgeous city. I just wish I would have captured it a little better! Maybe next time! =) I appreciate your feedback.
