Default Downtown Lights

First post here and just purchased my first DSLR at Christmas. Trying to read some every night and get out and shoot.

The composition looks a bit distracting, maybe without the bridge, the scene might look better.

Great start. Please be sure to check out the rule for the "critique" section, though -- if you just want to show off what you've done, the "SYS" sections work for that.

Which bridge?
Should I frame higher to focus on the buildings more or just avoid the vertical and horizontal bridges in the same shot.

Sorry about not reading the rules sections first, I have read the rules and realize I broke a few last night. Just looking for some honest feedback on how to improve

I like that there's a full-sized image attached. Makes it easier to zoom in 1:1 and see detail.

Having said that, I think you might have a little fine camera vibration or a slight missed focus. Everything seems a bit soft when viewed at full size.

If you can find and post the EXIF data, it would help to diagnose what's going right and wrong with the image.

I think with the tower in the front, it would either work better if you could add some light to make it more prominent, or shoot around it and remove it from the image.

I think you should avoid the vertical and horizontal bridge all together because from what I see, the backdrop with the tall buildings and all seems very nice, maybe shoot on the bridge towards the buildings?

Another thing, if you are going to try that, perhaps try using a GND to avoid the foreground from overexposure or to a point that it took attention away from the buildings.
