You didn't put the sun in the middle and that is good.
However I am left thinking you might have been able to do more with this scene and the elements in it. I wonder what if you would have got closer to the tree and used it to frame the sun and the reflection in the water. Or maybe used it in the right of the frame and shown more of the sunset in the water. Less exposure might have given more color saturation. The black rectangle at the right makes me wonder if it is a bench or a sign. In other words it takes me away from enjoying the sunset. You reacted to a scene and tried to capture it. With time you will be able to communicate that feeling better to the viewer. Good first effort though. |

I also noticed the black rectangle (bench?) right away. It is distracting and looks out of place. I think you need a cleaner silhouette in your shot. If you just had one or two of the trees as your silhouette, that would be a lot cleaner. You also have the dark, underexposed foreground. Unfortunately, you cannot do things like bracket your shots or shoot RAW on an iPhone, so you'll probably have to crop that out, since you don't have the tools to get the ground and sky both correctly exposed. A good start, though.
