Would be interested to hear your thoughts on composition and depth of field and whether you think it works here:

This is not the type of shot I normally take, but I would prefer to see a little less of the blurred leaves in the foreground. Nice DOF otherwise.

I like the grass but I don't like the fact that it's almost hidden by the OOF grass in the foreground. Also, that single green OOF branch going vertically bugs me. Subject like these are ideal for experimenting with composition and point of view.

Thanks for your comment. Its not the type of shot I would normally take either, but it was shot with the assignment in mind

Thanks. Yes, new 50mm lens and frost were crying out for experimentation!

Ditto for me. A good concept, but the image would be stronger with a large depth of field and more of the detailed frost ... Thank you for sharing ...

Hi!

I actually like the shot of the frost. It's pretty cool!

With that said when I see the shot I want to see more of the grass instead of just the focus on the frost. So maybe a bit more zoomed out. Also maybe play a bit with the lines of the grass blades and instead of the focus on the top left corner, maybe move it a bit more towards the center (but still maintain off-center).

However, if the main focus is just on the frost than maybe a shallower depth of field to blur out the foreground and focus more on one or two blades of grass.

Just my thoughts

Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated. I will bear them in mind next time I am out in the frost
