Malibu beach....

Hi all, this is the harbor in Malibu beach CA, because of my PL Circ filter the sky was not balanced in the blue color

can you please critic composition & edition ( tone, saturation & temperature were modified)

I like the warm feel of the light but there seem to be too many elements that aren't working together.

The person in the foreground seems unrelated to the pier which is unrelated to the white boats in the distance which is unrelated to the dark shadow entering from the right corner.

Picking out one or two elements to concentrate on would have given a more cohesive image.

Maybe focusing on the pier and just the boat that is tied to it could have narrowed it down.

There is a white line that extends along the horizon in the upper right that seems out of place.

An alternative could have been to have the person walking in the waves and looking towards the end of the pier.

This is one of those cases where less would have been more.

I've seen newspaper editors take an 8 X 10 and crop it to a 4 X 5 or less to tell a story with more impact.

Art, as a newbie, the first thought that came to my head when I looked at it was that I didn't know where my eyes were supposed to go. I love water shots though so I'll look for more from you.
