Default Old Barn ~ With a subject

I fixed the subject of the barn. This is the same picture just adjusted differently. Did I nail my subject and how is the crop?

Much better than the first one. If I remember correctly you said it was windy and therefore maybe the missed focus is camera shake or improper hand holding technique.

Yes it was very windy! Also the post off to the right was not straight in the ground.

Give yourself a drill/practice session. Go out and take 20 photos with the sole idea of subject. Consider the best way to present that subject in the frame and do it. Before taking the photo be sure to look at the subject from different angles and perspectives. If the subject is stationary, it will not suddenly move, so take your time.

+1. Do not get in the habit of saying to yourself, "that's cool, I'm going to shoot that" and immediately raising the camera to your eyes and taking the shot. Think about what you want to emphasize in the scene and the best composition/settings to accomplish that. Please do not get in the habit of always shooting at eye level. For me, that is seldom the ideal composition.

I still find your image very busy. I would think about taking one aspect of it and try some shots featuring a smaller area of the barn.

Good advice - and noted. Day off tomorrow to work at it. Thanks.
