Default My First Project: Jack Daniels

Hello,

This is my fist post here in the forums and I am looking for all types of critique.

I recently took this picture (and a series of picture all included on my flicker page Flickr: whoda19's Photostream ) of a Jack Daniels bottle.

This idea was, which was my first photo shoot, was to go through out San Diego and work on my composition and post production technique.

Can you give me your thoughts on the composition and how the editing looks (do the shoots look fake or too photo-shopped)?

Any other input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I think the brick is more in focus than the bottle... I also think it would look cool if the bottle were propped against the stone to the right and not having the change in the wall in the image. Just my opinion

It almost looks to me more like a contrast in stone textures, as you have 3 different textures there along with the JD. So, I find the surroundings distracting if the bottle is your subject. Shooting in the afternoon also gives the harshest light, so I would try to shoot closer to the golden hours to get the softer, less direct light.

Smile Thanks!

Thanks Weird Girl, I never thought of the changing in the wall.

Thanks also Krusty79, I do have 3 different textures and I can see how my eye keeps going to the wall textures.

I forgot to include the picture settings:
Time: 3:20pm
Shutter: 1/640
F-Stop: 4.5
ISO: 100

I also think the red brick is what is standing out. Love the way the sun shines through the bottle on the back side but you should find a color that doesn't stick out the same as the Jack Daniels.

I so thought that this was going to be a different kind of thread based on your title...
