Default Old boat

How this the composition on this shot. I was wondering if I should have made the boat blurry and focused on the background. Also how is the colors. I like the "idea" of this shot, but to me it is missing something. Any other comments or help, I would LOVE them!

To me the potential interest here is the color and patterning of the boat's finish.

I think I would have isolated the boat and forgot the background.

I don't find the background interesting.

I don't suggest many images I would like to see in HDR but this is one that might work.

Either that or a vivid setting.

I agree ... the weathered boat surface is the point of interest. You might fill two-thirds of the picture frame with the boat, Other notes: The horizon line is tilting. You can correct this in your photo editing sofware, but it will require cropping of the image. The exposure seems a bit bright. In reshooting this location, you might try 2 or 3 exposures. Thanks for sharing ....

The pond that I was shooting at has a hill in the back, that is why the horizon is tilted. How would I fix that?

If your boat is the main subject then I guess taking the shot from a couple of inches higher to show the top curves as well would do this picture well... I ran into problems with sky being over exposed as well... if you have a look at my gallery the picture is called "back home from a long journey"... answers for this problem from this forum were either use a filter or take the photograph in a more cloudy day or later on during the day with less light around.
Nice picture though

I think the background is kinda of important given the subject of the boat, can you reposition to get a better view of the pond/lake behind, as it is the water is lost in the clutter of trees....

That's a great idea!! However, the boat is chained to a tree, and it is not mine so I do not have a key. So I can not move the boat to get a better shot with the water. There are trees everywhere!!
