I think the concept is good but maybe taking the photo closer to the ground would have helped as i think the leaves that appear to be touching the lens are a distraction.

I agree, a strong concept, worth pursuing some more images of the same scene. Suggestions: Consider placing the tree trunk a bit off center in the picture frame, back your lens away from foreground leaves, increase the depth of field by stopping down the lens aperture, and shoot a couple of dozen images from different angles at different exposures. Thanks for sharing ....

agreed,

Still I think it's a beautiful picture. Here is an example of how I would compose this picture:

Yes the composition works pretty well. The colours are really nice but the dof isn't so good! If you'd followed the thread guidance & included your exif info people might've been more helpful. The shot would be massively better if you'd both had a crisp focus on a leaf & the other leaves up the tree less focused but still colourful?

Please take the time to read the rules for the critique section. You'll need to edit your post with missing information. Thanks a bunch!

I think your second picture looks much better as there is a neat pattern the tree trunk has running through the picture. The sun behind it is pretty cool too.

As for your first picture, I agree with the other posts above.
