Default CowTown Water Gardens

This is my first try at milky water.I happened to be in downtown Ft. Worth and thought I might try a night shot of some waterfalls. I want to know if the exposure works or should I have tried something different? Thanks for all the help. It wasn't a very well lit area.

Camera GENERAL IMAGING CO. X5
Exposure 10
Aperture f/7.0
Focal Length 11.2 mm
ISO Speed 80

CowTown Water Gardens

Thanks for looking

The water definitely looks milky, so it seems you got what you were going for! I'd maybe consider a different angle, so as to have less "negative space" at the top, but that's just my own personal taste. Nice work!

I think your exposure time is fine. But I'd really like more detail in the background. I'd recommend shooting when the ambient light is higher so you can get more detail with the same shutter speed.

Personally, I think having a bit more background will be nicer, maybe shoot from an angle where you get the milky water somewhere at the middle bottom of the shot and the stairs at the back filling up the upper portion of the photo and slightly higher exposure on the stairs.

I want to thank everyone for the great comments and ideas. I agree there should be a better angle and more clarity, but this was just an opportunity shot. It was late and I had very little light at all to work with. I had no tripod, all I could do was to find something to set the camera on to get what I got. If by some chance I can revisit, I will try some of the suggestions. Thanks again, very much for your support.

I agree with different time of day or different angle but there is still something I like about it as is. It breaks almost all the rules but there is a sense of mystery to it.

Maybe I am reading more into it than is there.

Never be afraid to try something even if you don't have all the "right" equipment or are there at the "wrong" time of day, or just don't have enough time to do it justice.

Make what you can of it. At least you did learn to blur the water.

Thanks Barry for the advice. The way I look at it is, if I don't try these things I won't learn. I try to take my camera with me as much as possible, even though I may not have all the tools I need, I'm still gonna try different things. Thanks again
