Default Wooden Structure, Illinois

Hello everyone,
As a beginning photographer, I feel as if what I think is a good shot, may not always be in others eyes.
Obviously, I'm here looking for some criticism on the following photo.
It was shot using the kit lens, from some distance away,

Platform, overlooking a cavern, Starved Rock IL

EXIF
Exposure 0.002 sec (1/500)
Aperture f/5.6
Focal Length 33 mm
ISO Speed 400

Thanks for looking!

Since the subject of this photo is supposed to be the bridge, this photo is not that good.

It is in the shadows and the trees to the left of it are lit up like a christmas tree on fire. The eye is naturally drawn to light, so you definitely want your subject to be in the light, not th shadows. Unless of course you're going for some horror type look, which this is obviously not.

Remember when taking photo's, the eye is drawn to the light and frame your pics so the subject is lit up.

Wow, I've examined this photo for quite some time and never thought of it like that. Since I know that is supposed to be the focal point, I guess I wasn't able to really notice that.
Hmmmm, noted though.
Thank you!

I have to agree. I didn't even realize there was a bridge until reading this post lol I thought the photo subject was the trees when I first looked.
