Better in B&W -- horizon needs straightening and could use some contrast adjustment ...

B & W seemed to improve it. I must remember to try that when I'm unhappy with colour. TFS

A graduated neutral density filter is made for situations like this when the sky is much brighter than the ground. Your camera takes an average reading for the scene, so that's why part of the sky is blown out the and rocks are underexposed. Another option is to bracket your shots so you can blend one image for the ground and one for the sky.

When you want colors, like sunsets, to come out you need to underexpose. A GND would have helped here as was mentioned. I personally would have bracketed and combined in post.
Or just PS the crap out of it.
