Default African sunrise

I am trying to develop a technique to frame these sunrise/sunset shots that will not be boring. I have framed it in such a way that it is nice, but I feel that is not a shot that tells a story.

Should I be cropping tighter or going wider. My concern with going wider is that the coloring throughout the picture is fairly uniform and may tend to be even more plain then.

Drakensburg sunrise
Camera Canon EOS 50D
Exposure 0.1 sec (1/10)
Aperture f/11.0
Focal Length 200 mm
ISO Speed 100
Exposure Bias 0 EV
Flash Off, Did not fire
X-Resolution 240 dpi
Y-Resolution 240 dpi
Please tell me what you would do.

I like the shot. But, as navcom says, the sunset itself is usually not enough to make up a great shot. However, the sunset can provide an interesting background to your subject. So, I would look for good subjects to use as silhouettes, or if you want more of a challenge, I would look for good subjects for foreground interest, but that will be more difficult to get the sky and ground both exposed correctly (may need an exposure blend/HDR).
