I would try to shift the image down or crop out some of the empty space at the top. It just seems to extend every so slightly too much. With regards to the seagull, I think that it looks fine...well quite good actually, in my opinion.

I would also trim a little off the top. You did a good job of keeping the bird in focus, which I would think would be the more difficult object, but the focus on the wood is soft.
