Yeah, but I'm not so sure that would help it really.

OK, here is the new version next to the old one. What do you think? I know the difference is small but that's almost the whole original (excluding one distracting detail in the bottom).

The old version

Frost & Silence

The new version

Frost &∓ Silence 2

For me, it feels like the new version is slightly "easier" and more relaxed.

I like the second version and it makes me feel like I've been banished to whatever is on the left! I don't like the cold and the branches are pointing to the left, beckoning me to go to.......

IMO it IS stronger flipped.
Sorry Steve, didn't see that you replied. I don't know, I'm not sure, I tried to flip it but it just looks off/weird to me. Thanks for the input.

Milosh, IMO foreground is an obstacle for the trees on the background, not sure if it unbalanced or unsetting

Thanks!
Probably because you've been looking at it for too long....you've developed a "conception" of how it's "supposed to be".

Maybe a "comparison critique"? I know it has been done before, but I think this image would be a better candidate as it has more artistic qualities/emotion.

Funny, because in my opinion, the foreground tree is the main subject while the forest in the back is just that, a nice background. That is also what I had in mind when I first saw it and thought of photographing it. It's just a proof how different people can perceive the same thing very differently. Thanks for sharing your opinion!

Could be, I thought of that myself. But that "conception" was in my head from the first moment, I could have shot it from the right side, but this seemed more "right"! It is now a candidate for comparison critique but I'll leave it like this. Thanks!

I'm actually more interested with the background than the foreground.

Those trees and the beautiful winter colours are so dramatic it makes me wonder how beautiful the photo would be if you actually shot that scene without the green foreground......
