Default Blue Water Bridge

I took this picture of the Blue Water Bridge. Since the picture was taken with a Coolpix 3200 and the settings are automatic. The picture is unmodified.

I'm looking for feedback on composition. I think I should have either cut out the trees out completely or tried to include more of the opposite shoreline.

That is a nice shot but I do find the trees at the bottom a little distracting. I would have gotten more of the opposite shore in this picture. but that's me.

I would agree that the trees should either be eliminated or you should show more of them and the support structure. Now, you in-between the two.

You have a great subject here in this photo. The bridge creates an excellent line leading the eye through the frame, but where does it lead? It's human nature to want to see what's ahead of them and therefore my suggestion would be not only to include more of the shoreline in the photo, but also to give more thought to your compositions. Hope this helps.

Thank you. When I get up there again I'll do that. I really didn't take much time thinking about this shot. I walked to the spot where this was taken, fired off a shot, and started walking to a new vantage point when the batteries in the camera died. Unfortunately, I hadn't charged them before leaving and I had already depleted the first set earlier in the day.

I think that I've really been lax on composition and am trying to refocus on that.

Composition: Good

Timing: Bad

Come back and take a shot when the sun lower on the horizon. And bring your tripod, cuz you're gonna need it to keep things from moving. Even with a coolpix, you should be able to get a nice image of this. And do some basic editing, even if you just boost the contrast a little.
