Default A bit of Old in Times Square

I took this picture on a walk around Times Square one night. This is one of the older buildings in the area and it caught my eye. I removed a building behind it to make it stand out more against the night sky. I also removed some signage to the right of the traffic light. Would you have handled it differently? If so, how? As always, I wasn't carrying a tripod, although this might have been a situation where if one was at hand I might have used it. Of course, setting up a tripod in Times Square is not the easiest task.

I do like the perspective and the use of the traffic light as a frame. I tend to like cityscapes with objects at fore/mid/background. There are darker geometric rectangles in the far left and right of the frame. This must be where you removed unwanted items.

The image is a bit soft/lens shake and/or noise. If you really don't want to lug a tripod around, invest in a gorilla pod or similar item and use it on any flat surface you can find.

Having seen several of your images, you have a good eye and have consistency with your exposures. It is a shame to end up with soft images due to a fixable technical component.

Thanks for your comments.

The darker geometric shapes was just sloppiness/laziness on my part - I know better than that. Refresh your screen and let me know if you still see them. (Shame on me!)

As for exposure - a bit of a hangover from my film days ... I bracket quite a bit. I don't even fully trust what I see on the display after the picture is taken.

I will look into a few tripod alternatives ... thanks!

No problems. Much better now, but now I notice a partial square in upper right corner and some added "stuff" at the openings of the traffic light. They may have been there previously.

You are certainly tougher than any art director I have ever worked with. I had to really dig deep to see the imperfections you pointed out the second time. (That's a good thing. )

Hopefully all is clear now and I have reloaded the file.

Thanks!
