Very nice. Captures the mood. This would be awesome 2 ways: in B&W, since not much is going on with the blue sky in the background, OR with a polarizing filter to give the blue in the sky a fighting chance to show some contrast against the dominant tree branch coverage (you can probably replicate both effects post-shot with software).

What time of day was this taken and with what brand/model camera?

Overall, a nice image. It does look like there may be some contrast available in the sky if you bring up the blue channel. Have you considered a b/w conversion? I'd be curious to see how this image looks in b/w.

This photo was taken at 4:15 PM with a Canon Rebel EOS T2i.

Here's a b&w version with a warming filter added.

The monochrome works a lot better for this image. My only other comment would be to increase your contrast a bit to bring up your darker tones.

I may be directing my granny to the eggs that are suckable but have you pinned down your black/white/middle points using the histogram in your PP software? Also you could do a PP GND filter with a grey/blue colour setting to make the sky nicer.

I just adjusted the color photo using Camera Raw in PSE and reposted it in place of the original. The blue sky is more visible and more detail can be seen. I added some fill light and adjusted the recovery slider. There are no real grey or white points in this photo to adjust.

I much prefer the b/w version. How did it look before you added the warming filter? I agree with EOBeav about bringing up the contrast.

The last edit is best though I think there's a bit too much clutter in the picture - lots of trees, broken branches on the ground...
