Default Ke'e Beach

This is a shot I took while on my second trip to Kauai. Let me know what you think.

This would be a good candidate for HDR photography. The green of the mountains would be cool if they were brighter; or more of a silhouette. But it's still an awesome capture of the clouds and the horizon.

Thanks for your comments. I tried pumping up the fill in Lightroom for the mountains in the background, but I found it took away from the essence of the image. This shot was taken at about 5:20 am, and the sun was just coming up (image left) over those ridges so the contrast was pretty extreme along those ridges. I also tried darkening the coastline in the background, but then very little detail was coming through. I wanted enough detail in the shadows so that this would be recognized as tropical. This was a 90 second exposure. I would have tried a longer exposure but I had very little time as the showers that are so common on Kauai came in fairly quickly before I had a chance. I have tried HDR, but I do not like the way the colors get exaggerated, especially the greens. I reserve HDR for more interior work in high contrast situations. All the best to both of you, and thanks again for stopping by to comment on my image.
