Default A Rose Is Rose

I am new to taking landscape photos and I would like to have some honest opinions. Thanks for any feedback I get.

Looking at this picture and telling myself what I would have done differently, a couple things come to mind.

1) I would have taken the picture from a lower angle.

2) Since there is no real background for this shot, I would have totally removed the background and replaced it with a solid color or something along that line.

Am I reading this right that you used an aperture of f25? if this is the case, a lower value (around f3-5) would give an attractive background blur which makes the flower stand out. I agree with the previous comment about getting lower down so that it's not such an overhead view.
