Default Rock River Scene

I took this photograph years ago and had posted it to a fishing web site. It got bad marks. I was wondering what everyone here thinks of this picture. I'm looking mostly for comments on composition and the overall feeling.

I originally wanted to show the converging lines between the bridge, hill and river bank. Is it too strong?

Sorry I don't have any EXIF data for this except the camera was an old Olympus C700 UltraZoom digital.

I think all of the vegetation is masking a lot of the lines in the shot, so they are not that apparent (except on the right). If you had not said what your intended subject was, I would not have known, because nothing jumps out at me.

Thanks for your input Krusty.

This photo was taken when I was a newbie to photography. I really didn't understand composition or anything else. I was fishing that cold drizzly miserable day and decided to take a few pics while I was waiting for the catfish to bite. I noticed the lines of the bridge and the hill and thought that was interesting. I guess just not interesting enough.

There a couple bridges around here that would prove more interesting, and next spring, I'll have to get out there and take a few pics and put what I've learned to good use.

Another thing is that you were actually there and felt the wind, the smells and sounds of that spot. All we can see is a two dimensional representation of what you saw that day, so that's part of the challenge of photography - to move others with your images like you were moved when you were there.
