Default Total Novice :-)

Hi guys

Totally new to DPS and so this is my first post. Have always loved taking pictures, but would like to start learning a bit more about the technical stuff and how to get the best out of my camera. So far, I'm finding this site superb! :-)

This is a pic I took the other day, and I'm looking for a bit a bit of general feedback, but specifically around the composition - Really want to get better so any feedback would be greatly appreciated (but it is my first time so please don't be too harsh!)

Thanks

Nikki

Welcome to the site. BTW, I merged your threads into the critique thread that you started and removed the repeated post.

I think that for me, this shot (while it has gorgeous colours), is too busy. There are lots of branches, lots of buildings in the background. I would really focus on defining a clear subject. And while silhouettes can make great sunset subjects, just make sure that there isn't too much other stuff distracting from it. I would also suggest a tripod since things look a bit blurry in the silhouettes.

+1. Too many silhouettes. Sometimes less is more. Great colors, though.

Well said! Great colors, but no clearly defined subject. Too many distracting elements and a little bit of camera shake. Welcome and thanks for sharing!
