Somethings missing here. I can't get to your pic with the link provided, and there's no EXIF data or question asked.

Please look here for how to post to this part of the forum.

And I hope this not Beaver Dam, WI.

If the subject is suppose to be the dam and the house then I would zoom in a little tighter. The sky has no color in it so to me it doesn't add anything to the image. Try a slower shutter speed to give the water coming over the dam a smoother feel to it.

Looks like an interesting old building, but the waterfall/dam is competing for my attention. I think you have to make one your primary subject and I find the building more interesting. The blown out sky is not helping, as the eye is naturally drawn to the lightest part of an image.

You could have shot this in the golden hours when you have less dynamic range to contend with, or you could have shot RAW/bracketed your shots and created one jpg for the sky and one for the rest of the shot and blended the two jpgs using a layer mask.

I know they're everywhere, but I would either clone out the power lines or choose a composition that excludes them.

I think if this was shot from across the stream so that the dam/waterfall would lead to the mill, it might be more interesting. I would go back after the snow flies and see what this looks like in the late afternoon if possible.

Mind saying what dam this is? I'm originally from the Milwaukee area and was just wondering.
