Default Marine Park setting sun

I got my Nikon D3100 a little over a week ago so this is my first post to DPS and I am really excited to get feedback on my photos. What do you think about the composition? I know that I have an uneven number of trees, but does it work?

Camera: Nikon D3100
Shutter Speed: .005
Aperture Value: 11
ISO: 100
Lens: AF-S 18-55mm 3.5-5.6
Focal Length: 35mm

HI, I'm new here too. That's a pretty site you have there, with the trees and the water and the mountains. I'd suggest using the tree in the foreground to perhaps frame the shot, i.e., move yourself to the left and use the branch as a frame. I'd also suggest waiting a few minutes to take the shot since you might get better color as the sun goes down a bit more...pretty though!

Thank you very much! I will definately go back and use the tree as a frame for the photo, that's a good idea.

Welcome to the forums. Your settings look good. I agree with jdam023 about shooting a little later in the day. I think that part of the tree visible on the left is distracting. The main tree feels a little too close, or in my face, IMO. I think the tree behind it makes a better silhouette, as it is not in my face and I can see all of the branches.

I agree that the tree on the left is distracting. Thank you for the pointers!
