I don't see a significant problem with lack of sharpness here. You do have some sun flare, which is essentially unavoidable if you're going to have the sun in the frame.
That said, the horizon isn't level (which is easy enough to fix), and there's no real subject, which isn't easy to fix. The sun over water is almost never enough to carry a photo by itself. Had you included a silhouette of the fisherman whose pole you can see in the lower right of the photo (or almost anything that would have provided foreground interest), you might have had a really nice shot. The sunset would make a fine background.

The fishing pole itself can act as foreground interest, although it would be better to see the fisherman also. Nice colors in your shot. You might want to get a tripod and continue to take shots as the sun sinks. You'll get different colors in the sky and the lens flare will eventually go away.

yes of course a fisherman's silhouette would give more value to the photo. to obtain these coulours i've used the hdr technique, and i really like the colours obtained, but on the other hand i think that in this way the shot resemble to a paint...
i've already used a tripod and i will follow your advice even if in this season the colour would be very different (i took the picture in ending summer/starting fall, now it is mid fall, in italy). Bye bye. max |
