Default Fall Woods

How is the composition in this picture? As I was walking through the woods, I saw this trail with some amazing colors. Although these colors are not from Fall, they are from lack of rain and an abundance of heat. It is Tx. I'll take any advice please. Just cuz I thought it would look good in a picture, does not mean I know how to make it happen. Thanks John

Some very interesting colours here and this area looks like it could have some potential.
For me though the two main issues are that branch in the middle of the track. its messy and blocks the way, it doesn't invite me to "walk" down the path to see what is around the corner.
Also I wonder how this would look if you had've just pulled back a bit, either with the zoom or your feet, in order to see more of the track so that there is more foreground to lead the eye into the picture. At the moment there is no real subject to the scene and it just doesn't hold my eye.

But is it a beautiful spot and well worth another visit.

It would be a wonderful place for a portrait shoot (so long as you can choose the color of the subject's clothing). But as a stand-alone photo, it doesn't have a compelling subject.

(IOW, what NgaiHill said.)

Thanks so much for the comments from both of you,( Doug and NgaiHill ). You have both given me some good ideas.

I guess some people never go hiking through the forest unless there is a 3 meter wide paved trail for them. I find nothing wrong with that trail. I've hiked into more places carrying fly rods and cameras w/tripods that had worse trails, or no trails at all.

What I find wrong with this photo is that you probably shot this in Auto mode. Your aperture was pretty wide open causing a shallow depth of field. I do like the colors in this pic though.

This pic reminds me of hiking deep into the forest to go fishing where few dare to go.

Thanks Flytyer for your interpretation, I appreciate all the advice I can get. However I made all the adjustments for the pic on manual mode. I feel like I cant learn on auto mode. I like shooting on the 64 ISO, and then I adjust the shutter and aperture according to the light meter. Im not sure if thats how its done, But I am a work in progress. and learning. Thanks again for your input.
