Hello, y'all.
Recently for my birthday I got offered something I'd asked for: A beautiful little Lensbaby composer, that came in a box with: "mama?" written on it. Awww, I know. I also know some people think it's an unnecessary gimmick... ![]() Canon EOS Rebel t2i Lensbaby composer If I remember well, it was at f/5.6 ISO 100 1/320 Shutter Speed Now, I rather like it, but I'm still doubtful of the use of my new toy, if it's necessary, or if it makes it look like less of a good picture - because, you know, blur. Thoughts on the lensbaby, on the shot, on ways to use it so as to not look like an overexcited 13-year-old with 3 colored Dianas she bought at Urban Outfitters?

Sorry, I have never used a Lensbaby. I don't think too many of us have, so that probably explains the lack of responses. I believe EOBeav has one, so hopefully he'll see this thread.

On the shot itself, it's a little dark for me - while that's not really a bad thing, you do lose the effect of the blur, in fact, I couldnt even see it until I went to your flickr, and then it seems very subtle to the point of being marginalized.
Good use of multiple horizontal lines, and the slight lean of the tree works however. As for the use of the lensbaby, I have one and use it less than I would like to... then again, I havent shot for myself since february, but when I do I will use it again. I posted a while ago when I was going through the same honeymoon period you are... Personally, I like the excessive distortion.. otherwise, you might as well just use a shallow DoF on a regular lens... the LB can do amazing things, but it's vry unpredictable, which is half the fun...don't be embarrassed about over-using it... if you don't you won't know its full capabilities, nor will you enjoy it. People talk about toy lenses, well this one is the epitome. |
