I am very new, at actually trying to take a good photo. Im thinking that this is not bad, but Im just not sure the clarity is jumping out at me. What would it take for it to jump out at me?
Thanks alot John or maybe its my eyes

As someone who's sitting here as an armchair critic rather than a better photographer than you, I'm trying to think 'If that was my pic what could I have done better?'
I'm assuming you used a camera mounted flash? There's nice autumnal colour in the fallen leaves in the, well lit, foreground. I'd like to see those colours right into the background. Don't forget arranging the leaves for a good shot is good...
Those mushrooms appear to have a slight colour cast making them a bit more yellowy than they might be? So the contrast between grey mushrooms & yellowy/orange fall leaves is lost a bit. Could that have been sorted in PP?
Going back to the camera mounted flash thing, I can't afford loads of equipment but I can use cheap stuff like LED torches (flashlights). If those bulbous mushroom heads had a side light it would really emphasise their shape.

I think you have a good concept with this. I took a shot at an edit following some of the suggestions listed above. Let me know if you would like it removed or an explanation of what I did to arrive at it.

Thanks for your comments, Actually I am such a greenhorn at this I am using my Grandsons Camera, without a flash. The light coming through the woods just happen to be shining on those shrooms. I think the yellowing may come from having the color set to chrome. Trust me this is just a hobby, right now. And I did actually move some of the leaves around.

Thanks for all the great comments Jim, This photo has not been edited by me, however I just got photoshop, but have not yet learned anything about it. I love what you did with it, but Im gonna keep it original till I learn more about editing. But I would love to know what you did. Thanks again for all the advice. John
